ROMANTIC, dazzling, and breathtaking. This is how I can describe Sochi, Russia as. I went there on the first week of October and stayed for four nights at the Grand Hotel Polyana. Walking the streets of Sochi is like walking backwards into time when there were old cathedrals and wooden rails and brick roads and orange lighting. Bridges over rivers, cold air against your cheek. And trees upon trees on the mountains lining the city.

Sochi is a known tourist destination in Russia. The olympic city is popular for its beaches and ski resorts. The weather was fine. You should never leave the hotel without a coat on, but it's never too cold to enjoy. It was a beautiful autumn season but it would be majestic in the winter season too. If you are planning a trip to Russia, here are some tips.

Where to stay:

For privacy, relaxation, and adventure in one, stay at Grand Hotel Polyana At Grand Hotel Polyana, you almost don't have to leave the hotel at all for it's not just a hotel building, but a hotel with access to the mountains.

You can ride a cable car, chair lift, ski, and other rides. You can also frolic in the grassy grounds and just enjoy the picturesque scenery. At the hotel you will find a gym, a spa, an olympic pool, and scrumptious food at the dining hall. It's perfect for couples and families.

For barkada and family, stay at Courtyard by Marriott.

The rooms are large and beautiful with a lot of space for many people. You can get the most of your money here especially if you are travelling as a crowd. It's set near downtown so you can just walk around and find food places to go to. Cable cars and picture-worthy sites are also near.

What to bring:

In Russia, the weather can be unpredictable. Sometimes it's hot and sometimes it's very, very cold. Make sure to bring with you a coat, thermal wear, comfortable shoes with thick soles, semi-boots for women, and intense moisturizer for skin and lips to prevent dryness caused by the cold air.

Traveler tips:

* Book connecting flights that are at least 3 to 4 hours apart to give you enough time and catch your flights on time.

* When you are traveling via connecting flights, insist on having your luggage checked through.

* Always bring your passport wherever you go.

* Have Google Translate ready on your phone to be able to communicate well with Russians.

Traveling is a beautiful experience. Russia is one of the most beautiful places I've been to. It's clean, the hotel rates are affordable and the food is good. It's definitely worth going to.
