Army wants more reservists in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Individuals wishing to be a part of the country's armed forces will soon have a chance become part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Reserve Command.

If all pushes through, the AFP will have a large recruitment effort for army reserves in Pampanga.

Brigadier General Carlos Buendia, brigade commander of the AFP, met with Governor Dennis Pineda on Monday, October 7, to discuss the possibility of conducting a recruitment in Pampanga.

"The governor was receptive of the idea since the province has yet to form a reserve unit which may respond in times of natural phenomena and man-made disasters," Buendia said in a report of the Provincial Information Office (PIO).

The PIO further quoted Buendia saying that: "Doctors, dentists, nurses, and other professionals may apply to be in the reserve unit. The recruits will then be trained by AFP."

These reservists will be called on in times of war or national need. The governor will be waiting for the memorandum of agreement on the conduct of the recruitment.

This is in pursuant to Republic Act 7077 or the Citizen's Armed Force Act.
