Joel Lamangan's Rainbow's Sunset to screen in 2019 London East Asia Film Festival

LONDON -- A film by Joel Lamangan is one of 12 films handpicked by the London East Asia Film Festival (Leaff) selection board, completing this year's Official Selection in the UK's biggest and most prestigious film festival celebrating Asian culture.

Rainbow's Sunset will screen at the Odeon Covent Garden theatre on October 26, 2019. This is the fourth year in a row for a Philippine film to be screened in Leaff.

Rainbow's Sunset is a full-length film about Ramon (Eddie Garcia), an 84-year-old retired politician who leaves his family to take care of his childhood best friend, Fredo (Tony Mabesa), who is dying of cancer. Although Ramon's wife supports his decision, his move eventually causes a stir among his family and friends.

"The inclusion of Rainbow's Sunset in Leaff's Official Selection is another testament affirming Philippine excellence in cinema," said Ambassador Antonio M. Lagdameo.

This year's Leaff runs from October 24 to November 3, featuring 60 films representing 11 countries.

Other films in Leaff's Official Selection are To The Ends of The Earth (Japan), A Girl Missing (Japan), The Wild Goose Lake (China), Three Husbands (Hong Kong), The Pool (Thailand), Cities of Last Things (Taiwan), Nina Wu (Taiwan), Long Live The King (Korea), Europe Raiders (China, Hong Kong), Balloon (China) and The Science Of Fictions (Indonesia, Malaysia).
