Zamboanga City to sustain road clearing operation

THE Zamboanga City Government praised the members of the security forces for their effort and support in the road clearing operations, which resulted in a 90-point passing rate during the recent evaluation by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Assistant City Administrator Cesar Raz said the help of the city police greatly contributed to the massive city-wide clearing operations undertaken by the local government in the past months.

“We cannot do that alone, without the help of our city police,” Raz said.

Raz said that from August to September, police enforcers issued some 3,000 citations for obstruction offenses such as illegally parked vehicles, illegal vendors and terminals, and overlapping house constructions.

Road clearing is one of the evaluation indicators used by the DILG team to assess this city’s compliance to the presidential directive through DILG circular 121.

Other indicators include ordinance, inventory, displacement program, rehabilitation efforts, and grievance mechanism.

For the road clearing indicator, Zamboanga City scored 45 out of 50 points.

For ordinance, the city scored 14 out of 15 points, inventory 5 out of 5, displacement program 8 out of 10, rehabilitation efforts 13 out of 15, and grievance mechanism 5 out of 5.

Raz assured the public that the city government will sustain its clearing and anti-obstruction efforts, with the continued support from the Zamboanga City Police Office. (SunStar Zamboanga)
