Show permits of Capitol monuments built in previous admin, guv dares

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano challenged the city government to present building permits of the statues inside the capitol park built during Mayor Oscar Moreno’s stint as governor of Misamis Oriental.

Emano said he will personally get a building permit for the new Provincial Tourism Office only when the city hall shows building permits of the monuments in the capitol park.

“Kung mapakita nila, magkuha gud ta ug building permit, naa ray gamay nga penalty, walay kaso, pero pakitaa sa ko sa building permit sa ilang gipangbuhat. Kung mapakita nila, ako mismo muadto sa City Hall muadto magkuha ug building permit,” he said in his radio program Wednesday, October 9.

“Nagselos siguro mo kay walay inyo no? Inyong hilabtan kay walay inyo. Ayaw paghilabot sa mota sa uban... Una, nganung pagbuhat ninyo sa statue diha, walay building permit? Gihilabtan ba mo ni mayor Dongkoy sa una pagpakuha sa building permit? Nagsamok ba si Dongkoy Emano? Arrogance of power kuno, pero kung arrogance of power gyud, what have you done during the term of mayor Dongkoy, diba you built and built but no building permits?” he added.

However, OBO head engineer Isidro Obligado said his office has never issued permits for monuments or statues as these are already accessories of recreational buildings or parks.

“Sukad-sukad wala mi ka issue og permits for statues kay kana sila accessory sa recreational buildings or parks. Kung naay mangayo permits for recreational buildings nga naay monument or shrine apil nana didto,” Isidro said.

City Administrator earlier revealed that the newly-opened P10 million two-story tourism office did not obtain a building permit from the Office of the Building Official (OBO).

According to OBO, the new tourism office violates the National Building Code, particularly Section 301, which states that no person, firm corporation, including any agency or instrumentality of the government shall erect, construct, alter, repair, move, convert, or demolish any building or structure or cause the same to be done without first obtaining a building permit thereof from the building official assigned in the place where the subject building is located or the building work is to be done.
