Gang member nabbed for firearms possession

LOCAL police authorities arrested a member of Carin criminal group for possessing several unlicensed firearms during the enforcement of a search warrant on Wednesday morning at Purok Dahlia 1, Barangay Mapawa, Compostela Valley.

Based on the police report, the suspect was identified as Antonio Gallarde alias Budoy. The operation was launched by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Compostela Valley together with Maragusan Municipal Police Station.

They jointly implemented the search warrant against the suspect for Violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act issued by Judge Carmel Gil Grado.

Gallarde was apprehended after police operatives confiscated unlicensed firearms, live ammunition, tools, and equipment used for repair and manufacture of unlicensed firearms during the search operation.

His group operates in Compostela Valley and other neighboring provinces.

The seized firearms were two pieces caliber .38 revolver with one loaded with three pieces of ammunition; one piece caliber .45 pistol; one piece magazine of .45 caliber pistol; one piece improvised Cal. 22; two pieces Caliber .22 barrel; one piece Angle Grinder; one piece (Contender) drills press; one piece M16 magazine; one piece homemade barrel set; seven pieces different springs of firearms; one piece biscript tool; one piece hand drill; and piece Holster (black).

The arrested suspect is now under the custody of Maragusan Police for proper disposition and further filing of the case.
