POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera Director Israel Ephraim Dickson lauded the 6,220 regional police for not getting involved in the sale and distribution of drugs, particularly marijuana, coming from different provinces.
During the fourth quarter meeting of the Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating Council at the Baguio City Police Office, Dickson pointed out that this could be due to the positive teachings given by Cordillera elders to their sons and daughters who are members of the regional police organization.
"I'm am happy because our police personnel are the examples of being law abiding citizens because from how I look at the culture here in the Cordillera, children obey their elders and which is also similar for our police personnel who strictly follow orders from their superiors," Dickson said.
Inspector General Alfemar Triambulo of the Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service earlier lauded the PRO-Cordillera for not getting involved in the sale and re-distribution of illegal drugs, particularly marijuana, despite the volume of illegal weed confiscated and burned in the region.
Trimabulo said that police in the Cordillera remain one of the most disciplined in the country despite the possible temptation for PNP personnel to be involved in the illegal drug trade with the volume of marijuana confiscations and eradication.
"I have required my commanders to closely get in touch with their men, remind them on what needs to be done and to strengthen our coordination with stakeholders, particularly religious leaders to continue their engagements with our policemen which have shown positive results and who guides them on what is the right thing to do," Dickson added.
The PRO-Cordillera reported that the campaign against illegal drugs led to the arrest of 281 persons and the confiscation of various illegal drugs worth P340 million.
