Sinas to leave PRO 7 for position in NCR

POLICE Brigadier General Debold Sinas will bid the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 goodbye next week to assume a higher post in Camp Crame.

The PRO 7 chief said there is no order yet from the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief regarding his transfer, but a high-ranking official from Camp Crame already informed him that he will be the next National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief effective next week.

Sinas will replace NCRPO Chief Guillermo Eleazar, who will also be promoted.

On Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, Sinas and other police regional directors are scheduled to attend a command conference in Malacañang with President Rodrigo Duterte.

Sinas said he will get his transfer order during the conference, as well as the name of his replacement.

In an interview on Thursday, Oct. 10, Sinas said his transfer was expected since PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde is scheduled to retire on Nov. 8.

What he didn’t expect, though, is that he would have to leave PRO 7 earlier than Nov. 8. He was hoping to lead the security preparations for Sinulog 2020.

Under Sinas’s leadership from June 1, 2018 to Oct. 9, 2019, the PRO 7 was able to arrest 14,223 drug personalities, including 313 high-value targets, in 9,966 anti-drug operations.

A total of 136 persons have been killed during police operations in the same period.

The PRO 7 also confiscated 189 kilos of suspected shabu and 485 kilos of marijuana amounting to P1.3 billion.

Before informing the reporters about his new assignment, Sinas called all police officials under him to a meeting and told them about the development. /FROM AYB OF SUPERBALITA CEBU / LRC
