Tesda special training to benefit 190 Negrenses

AT LEAST 190 Negrenses will benefit from the Special Training and Employment Program (Step) of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) which was launched in La Castillana Thursday, October 10.

Fifth District Representative Ma. Lourdes Arroyo led the launching of the 2019 Step.

The 190 beneficiaries who attended the event will enjoy free training with allowance under the program.

The 190 slots are for courses on Electronics, Welding, Automotive, Cookery, Hilot, Carpentry, and Bread and Pastry Production offered under STEP.

Step is a community-based specialty training program that seeks to address the specific needs of the communities and promote employment, particularly, through entrepreneurial, self-employment and service oriented activities.

"Although many times people like you and me have the courage to act on our desire to learn, the opportunity is not always provided. That is why for the last few months, I have worked hard as your congresswoman to provide opportunities for those of you here who have acted on your courage to learn. This is also the reason for my continuous hard work in Congress in Manila so that I can bring better programs and projects here to our district and realize my vision for better services for health, education, infrastructure, and livelihood projects," Arroyo said in her speech Thursday.

"I know from my heart how talented and hardworking you are. And I know that armed with knowledge and skills that you will develop through Step, you will be an asset to our district and to the industry that you may want to pursue," she added.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson was represented by Board Member Ernesto Agustin Bascon during the program.

La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Mangilimutan said that of the 190 slots, 40 are from her town.
