CIVIL society organization Task Force Kasanag (TFK) has expressed optimism that through its newly-established helpdesk it can cater to more complaints from the public, its top official said.

TFK commander John Chong, during the help desk launching in Barangay Alijis in Bacolod City recently, said the facility will serve as permanent center where anyone can lodge complaints against public officials or offices.

Chong said the helpdesk will also serve as the central office of the task force, which started its operation in Negros Occidental in 2009.

"The helpdesk will enable us to cater to more complaints especially those involving government agencies," he said, adding that TFK is an organization that works against crime, corruption, terrorism, and illegal drugs, among others.

The task force can also cater to complaints against private individuals or groups through its legal team.

Since its launching over the weekend, the helpdesk has already catered to at least 200 complaints mostly against erring public officials and offices.

TFK records show that there were at least 72 cases given actions by the Ombudsman through the task force.

These are on top of other complaints and cases filed against various government agencies and officials including barangay captains, it added.

During the launching, the TFK also held a "reformation" activity where members were made aware of their responsibilities and obligations.

Partners from different sectors, including the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Philippine National Police and Philippine Army, among others, were also represented.

Chong recognized the need to "cleanse" the organization as he admitted that there are members violating some rules and regulations.

In Negros Occidental alone, there are about 10,000 members of the TFK.

"We have to make sure that the task force will be true to its mission and vision so members are not allowed to make or participate in any activity that is contrary to the principles of the organization," he added.
