Dole chief: 1-M annual jobs eyed with 'Build Build Build' projects

THE administration of President Rodrigo Duterte is eyeing 800,000 to one million jobs each year under the "Build, Build, Build" program.

This was revealed by Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III during the National Congress of the Public Employment Services Office in Bacolod City.

Bello said the government is looking forward to go full scale on the "Build, Build, Build" program to realize the targeted jobs to be generated.

He also said that Duterte is eyeing to give three million jobs under his term and that there have been significant improvements at 5.9 percent already in his three years as president.

Underemployment has also been addressed by the government, Bello pointed out.

Meanwhile, Bello enjoins all local government units (LGUs) to have Public Employment Service Office (Peso).

"Peso contributes a lot. Some LGUs don't realize the significance of Peso so they do not give it much focus," Bello said.

He said there are still several LGUs that do not have Peso. Only highly urbanized areas have set up Peso, which is contributing a lot in job generation in partnership with Dole, said Bello.
