THE top 10 Jr. NBA players in the Visayas who will represent the region in the Jr. NBA National Training Camp on April 16 to 18 in Manila donated goodies to and conducted a basketball clinic for orphaned children in Mandaue City.
Lorenzo Carampatana, Jarek Mercado, Jessineth Stephen Wahing and Patrick Nigel Go from the Sacred Heart School of the Society of Jesus; John Agustin Pajantoy and Mitchel Vincent Antigua from the University of San Carlos; and Noel Villaceran from the San Roque Child Development School in Lapu Lapu City participated in an NBA (National Basketball Association) Cares activity at the SOS Children’s Village in Mandaue City last Monday.
The SOS Children’s Village project is the first NBA Cares project in Cebu.
The team was led by Jr. NBA coach and PBA legend Elmer Cabahug.
The NBA and Hi-Smart Multivitamins, the presenting partner of the Jr. NBA program, donated daily necessities and stationeries to kids at the Village.
“The Jr. NBA Philippines Program presented by Hi-Smart Multivitamins is not just about basketball. Besides imparting basketball skills training to young kids and teaching them about the STAR values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect, the program also prepares them to do their share for the community and to serve others through basketball,” says Ritchie Lai, NBA Asia director of events and attractions.
Through the NBA Cares activities, the Jr. NBA program encourages participants to give back to their communities. (PR)
