IT APPEARS there is just no stopping the University of Cebu Baby Webmasters as they rolled to their seventh win in a row with a 63-50 win over the Don Bosco Greywolves in the 2019 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) High School Basketball Tournament at the Cebu Coliseum on Saturday, October 12, 2019.

In spite of their perfect record, UC remained relentless and leaned on the shotmaking of Isaiah Blanco in the fourth period to hack out the win and push their record to an immaculate 7-0.

UC led by as much as 17, 52-35, but Don Bosco chipped away at the lead and brought it down to nine, 44-53. Blanco, the son of Cebuano basketball legend Dondon Hontiveros, though, stepped up and completed an and-one before canning a three- pointer to raise their lead to 15, 59-44, and put the game away.

Blanco had a complete ballgame as he finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Helping him out was King Balaga who chipped in 12 markers.

The loss put a huge dent to Don Bosco’s bid for a semifinal seat as it dropped them to an even 4-4.

Meanwhile, in the first game, the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers walloped the Southwestern University-Phinma Baby Cobras, 80-67, to push their record to 6-2.

Albert Sacayan showcased his fine form as he put up 15 points, five rebounds and four steals to lead the boys in green. Dave Basalo contributed 12 while Zylle Cabellon had 10 markers.

The Baby Cobras on the other hand, fell to 2-5, for the season as they had immense trouble finding the basket with Dezeo Villanueva the only player to reach double-figures for them with 12. (SunStar Cebu)
