Paulina Luz Sotto shares creative tips on ViveCast’s “Masterminds”

A new episode for the online series “Masterminds” by ViveCast features the series’ first non-Cebuano subject—an abstract visual artist named Paulina Luz Sotto. Paulina is an artist from Metro Manila known for her use of clean lines and edges, as well as being the granddaughter of Philippine national artist, Arturo Luz, and the daughter of local actor, Vic Sotto.

In this episode, she shares the story of how a Communications Major expecting to work in the advertising world eventually found her way into the art industry. She also shares a bunch of tips for aspiring visual artists. Check out what she said below!

Tip #1: “Know who you are as an artist. Know what you want to do. Know what you want to create and stick to it. Listen to yourself when you’re creating something. You need to know what you like because that’s really all that matters.”

Tip #2: “Use social media to your advantage. Promote yourself. Post everything. Don’t look at the number of likes. Just keep promoting your stuff.”

Tip #3: “Just keep going. If you are an artist, it’s really hard because sometimes there will be long periods of time where people will probably not want to buy or are not interested. You just have to keep painting. You have to keep doing what you like to do.”

See Paulina’s works in an ongoing exhibit at Rustan’s Ayala Center Cebu that will be up until the end of the year. For more of the good life, check out ViveCast on Facebook and Youtube.
