I CHANCED upon Turkish Coffee House while I was on a taxi going to SM City Davao a week before I flew to Indonesia. I told myself that my friends and I will have dinner here soon once I am back.

It was not easy gathering my friends because we were all busy. But on a Tuesday night I was able to bring two friends to the cafe -- Harvey and Iresse.

It was a simple cafe, nothing fancy. For the menu, they offer a variety of Turkish dishes that you do not normally find in restaurants serving Mediterranean dishes. The price range is between P150 to over P500, depending on the size of your order.

For our dinner here we ordered the Karisik Izgara, Tavuk Sis, Adana Kebab, Karisik Pita, and Hummus.

The meal started with the Hummus, which also came with pita. It was good. However, I find the pita to be too thin. I like my pitas on the thicker side.

Karisik Izgara is a combination of small portions of Adana Kebab, Urfa, Kofte, and Tavuk Sis served with a side of yellow rice, pita strips, and salad. I find their kebab to be among the juciest I have tried in the city. I also loved that spicy kick from the adana kebab, which was my favorite on my plate. However, I think there was too much char on some of the proteins on my dish. I love the salad that came with the dish. With a meaty dish, the salad was a refreshing addition and balances everything on this heavy meal.

Tavuk Sis is marinated chicken kebab that my friend Harvey ordered. He was hungry when we had dinner and he finished the food first. He said he enjoyed the dish.

Iresse also enjoyed her Adana Kebab, which is a long minced meat kebab. She like that it has a bit of spicy kick into it. She also thought the hummus was good too.

I also enjoyed the Karisik Pita, which is like a Turkish version of the pizza. It is pita bread topped with minced meat, tomato sauce, and cheese. This is one homey and flavorful dish.

For our drinks Harvey ordered the Turkish Coffee, I had a Rose Tea, and Iresse had a Rose Tea with milk. Harvey’s Turkish coffee was too diluted while Iresse’s Rose Tea with milk was odd because the milk has started to curdle. The rose tea that I had was nice.

Unfortunately, they do not have desserts when we visited. I hope the cafe can add some Turkish desserts in the future.

We enjoyed our dinner here. The food was delicious and I find it to be quite flavorful. The food was a bit pricey but I think it is worth it with the generous serving and tasty dishes.
