Local residents laud Arroyo’s visit in Mountain Province

BAUKO, Mountain Province -- Governor Maximo Dalog of Mountain Province led some 400 local officials and residents to welcome President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during the launching of the Halsema Highway rehabilitation project last

March 1.

The Presidential chopper landed at the Lepanto Mines airport. Students from the Lepanto High School cheered when Arroyo emerged from the Presidential chopper.

Along the way, from Lepanto to Boga Bridge, site of the launching ceremonies, Arroyo was also cheered by school children carrying Philippine flags and “thank you” streamers.

Governor Dalog said, “PGMA knows the strategic and vital importance of the Cordillera highway to us Cordillerans.”

In gratitude to the President, Dalog called on his constituents to help present the administration’s investments on the Halsema highway by preserving and not burning the trees and forests besides and near the highway.

Presidential Assistant Thomas Killip, said that it is but proper for PGMA to be present during the launching ceremonies. Without her, the meaning of the activity would have meant less. (Robert Domoguen)
