PDEA 7 arrests 2 women; P238,000 worth of drugs seized

TWO women were nabbed after they yielded some P238,000 worth of suspected shabu in an anti-drug operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 at Barangay Kinasang-an, Cebu City, on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019.

Baby Rose Rama, 28, and her cousin Mae Villanueva, 30, were arrested by PDEA 7 operatives in the former’s house after their alleged illegal drug operation was reported by PDEA’s confidential informant.

Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA 7, said Rama was their only subject, but Villanueva was also present and was caught to be “assisting” Rama during the operation.

Recovered from them were three packs of suspected shabu weighing around 35 grams.

“Meron pong confidential informant. Lumapit po sa office natin. Yung suspect talaga natin is si Baby Rose. But during the operation, May Villanueva was also there at naging parang assistant niya,” she said.

Alcantara said although the names of the two are new for them, they can still be considered “high-value targets” with the amount of the illegal drugs they can dispose of in a week.

“Allegedly, they can dispose of around 300 to 500 grams per week,” Alcantara said.

“They can already be considered high-value targets because of the amount of the shabu confiscated from them. Thirty-five grams is already a very big amount. Hindi lang yung patingi-tingi pero bulto bulto,” she added.

They were temporarily detained at the PDEA’s detention facility in Sitio Sudlon, Barangay Lahug. They will face charges for violation of Sections 5 (in relation to Sec. 26) and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (WBS)
