Magdaleno tops Pink October

JAYMARK Magdaleno crossed the finish line just a step ahead of Jerome Casinillo and bagged the top honors in the men’s 12-kilometer race of the 13th Pink October Run on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at the Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu.

Magdaleno breasted the tape in 44 minutes and 56 seconds to beat his closest pursuer Casinillo by one second in a fun run conducted to raise breast cancer awareness in line with the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Ultrarunner Desiderio Engbino settled for third place with a time of 45:33.

Angel Estillore, meanwhile, ruled the women’s side after clocking in 58:58. Sandra Sollano finished second in 59:05 and Gwendolyn Undang clocked in 1:10:20 to complete the 12K’s podium finishers.

In the 6K category, Ryan King Salinay and Mary Joy Casto timed in 21:34 and 29:00 to win the men’s and women’s crowns.

Ralph Niño Latigo and Rainmarch Gonzaga finished as runners-up in the men’s division with times of 21:36 and 21:47, respectively. Margarita Planca and Grace Ferrer timed in 32:06 and 34:44 to take second and third places in the women’s side.

Lapu-Lapu City’s Asia Paraase once again stamped her class, winning the women’s 3K crown in 15:47 over Jennifer Savellon (19:38) and Verna Lequigan (23:44). Pro boxer Ian Refuela (12:14) won the men’s 3K, beating Loibel Lindayao (12:15) and Louis Ariola (12:19).

The champions in the doctors’ category were Marivic Tan (1:11:13, women’s 12K), Theodore Zamora (59:31, men’s 12K), Gemma Custodio (38:42, women’s 6K), Vince Cabahug (37:46, men’s 6K), Amber Barazon (27:13, women’s 3K) and Paul Lim (23:10, men’s 3K). (RSC)
