TEN persons were nabbed while some P193,868 worth of suspected shabu were seized in two separate drug busts in Compostela and the cities of Cebu and Talisay over the weekend.
Members of the Compostela police arrested a certain Michael Cobrado, 37, in Sitio Puso, Barangay Cogon around 6:10 p.m on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019.
Recovered from Cobrado, who was included in the Compostela Police Station’s drug list, were four small sachets, one medium and one large pack of suspected shabu weighing 8.51 grams worth P57,868, a Dangerous Drugs Board value.
He also yielded a piece of tin foil, lighter and a .38 revolver with five pieces of ammunition. He is temporarily detained at the Compostela Police Station.
On Sunday morning, Oct. 13, operatives of the Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) also nabbed nine other drug suspects in Sitio San Miguel, Barangay Linao, Talisay City. The suspects yielded 15 small sachets of suspected shabu worth P136,000.
Both Barliso and Echavez were listed as high-value targets (HVTs) in the provincial watch list.
Police Lt. Colonel Marlu Conag, PIB head, identified the arrested suspects as Jomar Barliso, 29; Rolando Rocaberte, 31; Juncel Villejo, 30; Eric Vistal, 34; Jake Maneja, 27; Maclin Padillo, 44; Christian Regis, 41; Welbert Cañedo, 32; and Rose Marie Omagbon, 24.
Both Barliso and Echavez were listed as HVTs in the drug watch list.
Conag said the arrest of the nine suspects was a result of their surveillance that lasted for a month.
He said one operation led to another until they were able to get the other contacts of their targets.
The arrested persons are detained at the Cebu Police Provincial Office compound in Sitio Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City. They will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (WBS)
