Capitol to fill up vacant posts in district hospitals

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will fill up vacant positions in all Capitol-operated district hospitals.

"We will try to fill up positions in the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital, and Cadiz District Hospital," said Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

The governor pointed out that there are still vacant positions.

"We understand that there is so much to do especially in the provincial and district hospitals," Lacson said.

In a privilege speech during the regular session of the Provincial Board last week, Negros Occidental Fifth District Board Member Rita Gatuslao expressed concern over the lack of health personnel assigned at district hospitals that have affected health services to the public.

Gatuslao cited rising cases of diseases, like dengue and polio, as major health concerns in the Philippines.

"All these circumstances put to test the capabilities of our local healthcare units and service deliveries. We find ourselves in worse predicament as our public health facilities have been reporting a lack of manpower personnel since July and with worsening numbers," she said.

Gatuslao called on the Hospital Operations Department to explain to the Provincial Board the situation.

She also asked the Provincial Board committee on health to conduct an investigation on the matter.
