12,000 vacancies up for grabs in 2-day job fair

SOME 12,000 vacancies are up for grabs in the two-day job fair organized by the Zamboanga City Government's Public Employment Service Office (Peso) in collaboration with other government agencies.

Dubbed Hermosa Job Fair, the two-day event forms part of the post fiesta activities and is in line with Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar's continuing employment program for ZamboangueƱos.

Socorro Rojas, Pso manager, said the job fair will be held from Thursday until Friday at the activity center of the KCC Mall de Zamboanga.

Rojas, also the City Social Welfare and Development Office head, said a total of 50 recruitment agencies -- 35 overseas and 15 local -- will be participating in the job fair.

Rojas said that of the 12,000 job vacancies, some 2,000 will be for local employment.

She said applicants may be high school, senior high school, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) or college graduates of any course.

She advised the applicants to bring their resume and other pertinent documents and be in appropriate attire when taking part in the two-day job fair.

Meanwhile, Rojas said there will also be employment coaching and pre-employment seminars for those who are interested, apart from the job fair.

She said the public may also avail themselves of free Tesda services like massage, manicure and pedicure including haircut.

She said the activity will be in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment, Tesda and Philippine Overseas Employment Service Association. (SunStar Zamboanga)
