Capitol to buy rice from farmers at higher price

THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental is planning on buying rice from farmers in the province at a higher price per kilo.

Governor Yevgeny Emano said if a kilo of rice is bought at P18 from the farmers, the Capitol will purchase it at P20.

"Among i-process ang papel, maningkamot mi makapaspas. Kung ang palit dinha sa NFA (National Food Authority) sa ilang bugas P18, paliton namo sa Kapitolyo P20. Dugangan namo'g P2 per kilo," Emano said.

"We'll have a special fund and a technical working group nga katong baratuhon pagpalit ang ilang humay diha sa mag-uuma, kami palit P20 pa gyud, mas over ang presyo," he added.

The governor said the added P2 in the price of a kilo of rice will be a big help to rice farmers in the municipalities of Misamis Oriental.

Emano also said if the NFA will be storing 26,000 bags of rice, the Provincial Government will have it three times.

"Kita, mag stock ta times 3, mga 75,000 bags ang atong stock. Moabot ana ang NFA mopalit na sa amo. At that time, NFA will buy rice from us," Emano said.

He added that they already have a big warehouse to store the planned 75,000 bags of rice.

"So I need all the needed resolutions mga board, please as soon as possible," Emano said.

"Put technical people to work on it then I will handle the technical people who will work on the farm to market road nga atong gipangayo kay director Collado (Department of Agriculture-Northern Mindanao Director Carlene Collado)," he added.
