PRO-Davao intensifies cleansing program

WITH the series of involvement of policemen in illegal and criminal activities, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao intensified its internal cleansing program with the implementation of “Brother’s Keepers” concept to weed out scalawag uniformed personnel.

PRO-Davao Director Marcelo Morales said this will address issues and concerns affecting the command and its personnel including their problems.

"Kung may kinakaharap silang problema, the squad leader may advise, offer or lend hand, together with other squad members para matulungan. Kumbaga, brother's keepers. Responsibilidad nyo ang bawat isa," Morales said.

He added, "Ito ‘yung preventive stage pa. With this concept, we will be able to caution and guide our personnel to the right and narrow path of public service and least likely that they will become a problem in the future."

There are a total of 48 squads composed of all Regional Headquarters Personnel under "Squad Concept" of the Philippine National Police (PNP) dubbed as "Brother's Keepers" which is now being implemented in the region. All the lower units are advised to form their respective squad concept.

“This program, which is under the Revitalized Internal Cleansing Program, aims to address problems encountered by personnel when it comes to their moral and spiritual recovery. It also gears to weed out a defiant member of the PNP, citing this concept where the squad is considered the smallest unit in every formation,” PRO-Davao said in a statement.

PRO-Davao said that under the squad concept, in a group of 10 led by a squad supervisor or unit chief and its squad leader preferably chief clerks of every office or most senior in rank, they are accountable at all times to the behavior and activities of his colleagues within his jurisdiction.

Likewise, in every squad, there is also an assigned non-uniformed life coach or a pastor who is designated to lead the squad's spiritual aspect.

Morales is hoping that with this program, they will monitor the whereabouts of every policeman and prevent them from being dragged in criminalities.
