Espenido’s assignment in Bacolod ‘on Duterte’s orders’

CONTROVERSIAL Police Major Jovie Espenido confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte has assigned him here in Bacolod City.

Espenido said he has yet to receive his formal orders from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas director but he pointed out that there is high probability that he would be assigned to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in accordance with the order made by President Rodrigo Duterte himself.

Espenido arrived and reported for duty to PRO-Western Visayas Tuesday morning, October 15, following his reassignment.

He said that he is thankful for the impending assignment to Bacolod City and pledged that he will eradicate the city’s drug problem.

Espenido first met with PRO-Western Visayas Regional Public Information Office head Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City after he reported to the other regional police heads along with PRO-Western Visayas director Police Brigardier General Rene Pamuspusan.

He will call the attention of the BCPO’s top brass once he is formally assigned in the city, Espenido added.

Espenido has warned drug suspects, not only in Bacolod City, but in the entire Western Visayas region to stop their illicit activities and not test his patience.

When asked about his experience as head of the Ozamiz City police, Espenido said he held the post for another six months following the dismantling of the Parojinog group, due to the fear created by the crime group which lasted for 40 years.

“They said that if I leave too early, the Parojinog crime group will return that’s why I stayed in order to allay the resident’s fears,” Espenido said.
