Palermo lauds lying-in clinic project

BACOLOD vice mayoralty candidate and former councilor Lawyer Ana Marie Palermo acclaimed during the National Women’s Month Tuesday that the lying-in clinic project of the City Government will benefit the women in the city.

Palermo said that the construction of the lying-in clinic will provide additional service to the women and children.

She also noted that prenatal programs and services will be added to further strengthen the services to Bacolodnon.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier said that based on a study conducted by the city government, it is more practical for the city and its constituents to put up such infrastructure that will become a precursor for the establishment of a city hospital.

The lying-in clinic will surely help decongest the Western Visayas Regional Hospital particularly the less privileged Bacoleños, the mayor said.

He added that this facility will be put at the building vacated by the Civil Registrar’s Office at the City Health Office Compound and will be under the supervision of the City Health Office but will be operated by a private hospital.

Palermo said that the roles of women should be promoted and strengthened. She said that rights and dignity of women as mothers, wives, sisters, leaders, and workers in all fields should be respected.

Palermo has also authored an ordinance institutionalized the implementation, funding and manpower support for programs and services for the protection and promotion of the rights and welfare of children, the youth, women, the family, the disabled and the elderly.
