NPA rebel tagged as top 3 most wanted person nabbed

JOINT military and police operatives have arrested a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) tagged as the number three most wanted person in Sultan Kudarat, the military said Wednesday, October 16.

Colonel Wilbur Mamawag, Army’s 603rd Infantry Brigade commander, identified the arrested NPA member as Gina Ciano, who arrested in Sangay Village, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

Mamawag said Ciano has standing warrant of arrest for the crime of two-count murder with P200,000 recommended bail issued on August 17, 2017 by the court of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

Major General Diosdado Carreon, Joint Task Force Central commander, said Ciano was also a member of Center for Lumad Advocacy Networking Services (CLANS), white area committee of the NPA’s Guerrilla Front 73.

Carreon said the guerrilla front is under the Far South Mindanao Regional Party Committee of the NPA operating in Soccsksargen.

Ciano was brought to Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police Office for documentation and proper disposition.

Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Western Mindanao Command chief, said they will sustain the law enforcement efforts to neutralize the lawless elements who continue to lay out plans to create havoc in the peaceful communities.

Sobejana has assured that they will continuously work hand-in-hand with other law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of the people and the state. (SunStar Zamboanga)
