Man found with shabu faces illegal drugs charges

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will file Wednesday charges and inquest against Xavier Louis Rosales, who was caught possessing illegal drugs.

Recovered from Rosales’ traveling bag during an x-ray check were four big sachets of shabu stacked inside packs of biscuits, said Chief Police Superintendent Jerry Bartolome.

Rosales transported the shabu weighed at 90 grams, with an estimated street value of P700,000, aboard Cebu Pacific airplane from Manila to Bacolod City, which landed at Silay Airport at around 7 p.m., PDEA Provincial officer Cirilo Baluma said.

Rosales initially declared his cargo as biscuit but routine X-ray at the airport showed granule image that prompted authorities to conduct further check on the item that turned out to be shabu, report said.

Rosales, a resident of Gardenia Street in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, was temporarily detained for custody under the Silay City police station, said Bartolome.

Baluma said that Rosales’ case is non-bailable and he will be imprisoned for life.
