Barangays oriented about Seal of Good Local Governance

IN PREPARATION for the first-ever launching and implementation of the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB), the City of San Fernando conducted an orientation on City-Barangay Governance Service Information System on Monday, October 14, at the amphitheater of Heroes Hall.

In her opening remarks, Marites Quillope, Department of the Interior Local Government (DILG) Pampanga officer, expressed her gratitude to Mayor Edwin Santiago for his initiatives and actions toward the implementation of SGLGB.

"Thanks to our mayor for institutionalizing SGLGB. He even hired a consultant for you to fully understand the system. Also, magkakaroon pa tayo ng in-depth study para mas ma-appreciate pa ninyo ang ating bagong system (Also, we'll have an in-depth study so that you can also appreciate the new system)," she said.

Quillope also encouraged the participating barangays to embrace SGLGB for the city to remain consistent recipient of many national awards.

"Kailangan dito po manggagaling sa atin ang pinakamahuhusay at pinakamagagaling, at pinakamatitinong barangay. So, let's embrace this kasi napakaganda niya," she said.

(It needs to be from the best barangays. So, let's embrace this because it is impressive.)

Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin also joined the discussion, reiterating the goal of the program, which is to "cascade the SGLGB to barangays."

The lecture was led by the city consultant, Professor Victorino J. Santos, who shared his knowledge and expertise on the topic.

Together with him was Romeo Dizon, Barangay Development officer, who emphasized the requirement every barangay must comply to pass the safety and good governance measures.

The orientation was participated by barangay captains, secretaries, and representatives from 35 barangays of San Fernando. (PR)
