Leonardia: Pacquiao set to arrive in Bacolod

RING icon and Senator Manny Pacquiao is arriving in Bacolod City today, October 17, and will visit the Bacolod City Government Center.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Pacquiao will meet with City Hall employees at the Bacolod City Government, as well as barangay leaders of Grupo Progreso.

Pacquiao is gracing the second Bacolod games of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), which the boxing hero founded.

Leonardia and Pacquiao will arrive in a private plane early afternoon.

Leonardia was in South Korea during the first MPBL games in Bacolod last September 21, but Pacquiao promised the mayor he will see to it that Leonardia is around in the next MPBL games in Bacolod.

Leonardia and Pacquiao are long-time friends. The mayor has been carrying either the Philippine flag or Pacquiao’s championship belt whenever the boxing icon invites the mayor to join him in his fights.

The mayor is godfather to two of the senator’s children - Queenie and Israel.

In 2016, when Pacquiao became senator and Leonardia became mayor again, he invited the senator to administer his oath at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Pacquiao was declared by the City Government as an “adopted son of Bacolod.” (PR)
