MANILA -- President Rodrigo Duterte was bruised and scratched from falling off his parked motorcycle at the Palace grounds, said Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo Thursday, October 17.

Panelo said Duterte's injuries were minor and his recovery would not require any "major medical procedure."

Panelo said, "while it was true the President roamed around with his motorcycle," Duterte fell after parking it Wednesday night, October 16.

He said Duterte was reaching for his shoe when he fell and had "light bruises and slight scratches to his elbow and knee."

Panelo said the injuries would not affect Duterte's scheduled activities.

The 74-year-old President is an avid rider of big motorcycles like Harley Davidsons and has said he once had a serious crash during a long-distance run and could still feel those injuries. (AP)
