2 villages no reply yet to show cause order

THE Zamboanga City Government has yet to receive an answer from two villages to the show cause order issued against them for failure to comply satisfactorily with the mayor’s instruction on road clearing operations.

Assistant City Administrator Cesar Raz said a show cause order was issued to them right after the regional validating team came over and assessed this city’s performance on road clearing efforts.

“No reply has been received yet,” Raz disclosed.

To recall, the city government has obtained 90 points passing mark on the road clearing operations as assessed by the Regional Validating Team headed by Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Director Paisal Abutazil last October 3.

Abutazil said this city has garnered the highest points- way beyond the passing mark, and commended the city government led by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar’s for the efforts in implementing the President’s order against road obstructions.

President Rodrigo Duterte, in his fourth State of the Nation Address, has ordered the mayors and governors to reclaim public roads being used for private purposes or they will face sanctions.

Salazar was elated over the results of the road clearing validation even as she lamented that two villages have not fully complied with the road clearing campaigns.

The mayor said officials of the two villages, which she declined to name, will be accorded due process by way of a show cause order for them to explain their failure. (SunStar Zamboanga)
