THE 17th Oscar Mora Cup and the 4th Doc Nat Cup, which will open on Saturday, October 19, at the Davao City-UP Sports Complex will serve as memorial tournaments for two sports patrons of the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao.

Organizer Moira Calizo of UP said, "Oscar Mora and Doc Nat were two prominent people who helped UP Mindanao football varsity programs. This is our way of giving back to them."

The Oscar Mora Cup is a women's futsal competition with a total of eight teams competing while the Doc Nat Cup

is a football meet that features boys under-13 and men's open categories.

"These tournaments serve as preparation for the upcoming Dcaa (Davao City Athletic Association) and Scuaa (State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association) meets, Most participants are from Dcaa qualifiers," she told members of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) during their weekly forum at The Annex of SM City Davao yesterday.

The month-long tournaments will be played during weekends.

Calizo added, "Hopefully we finish by November 16 or 17. Nag-agree naman ang mga teams sa skeds."
