BAGUIO City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña stressed the need for parking structures in the city.

Dela Peña said the Ganza area is not enough to satisfy the need for space for vehicles in the mountain resort, adding that a five-level structure is needed to accommodate at least 700 vehicles.

Other areas eyed for parking are the old auditorium, athletic bowl space, the Bibak compound, and the city hall annex site at Camp Allen.

“We are very determined about this,” dela Peña said, adding the city needs more parking spaces to be able to clear sidewalks and promote walking in the mountain resort.

At least four proposals for multi-level parking were received by the city. Three of which have been heard by the Burnham park technical working group.

Parking facilities for Burnham were presented by XY Fuji Elevators Philippines with All Asia Corporation setting multi-level parking space proposals both at the Ganza parking area.

XY Fuji Elevators Philippines revealed plans bankrolled by Chinese partners for a 5-level, 4,320-square meter steel parking building which can accommodate 668 cars at one time while All Asia Corporation presented a P400-million public private partnership deal to city stakeholders comprised of a three-story steel structure which can accommodate 700 vehicles and serve as a common terminal for jeepneys as well as a business venue for small and medium entrepreneurs.
