City gov’t rushes Z3R project implementation

AN INTER-AGENCY team led the clearing of a transitory site inside the campus of the Rio Hondo Elementary School as the city government expedites the implementation of the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) project.

The inter-agency team is compose of the Land Housing and Management Division (HLMD), City Engineer’s Office and City Legal Office and other agencies together with the village council.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the clearing of the Rio Hondo transitory site is to pave way for the construction of the sewerage treatment plant (STP) project undertaken by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) as part of the Z3R project.

Salazar said the clearing of the transitory site was done from October 8 to 9 following the expiration of the 15-day notice to vacate issued to the occupants by the HLMD.

The transitory site served as temporary shelters of residents displaced during the 21-day 2013 Zamboanga siege.

Once fully implemented, the mayor said the STP as well as the water and sewer system projects will benefit over 6,000 families displaced by the 2013 siege.

She added that the clearing of other existing transitory sites is underway. (SunStar Zamboanga)
