SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu started its campaign in the Girls 18 division of the AboitizLand Football Cup with a 4-1 rout of Sheba FC at its home pitch.
SHS-Ateneo routed Sheba, 4-1, with Jodi Mari Banzon scoring twice inside nine minutes. Kyza Colina got one back for Sheba in the 10th before Banzon scored again in the 54th and Flora Mae Ayenido added a fourth goal in the 60th.
Sheba FC recovered in the Girls 14 division and got an easy 2-0 win after Inter-Barangay failed to show up.
In the executive division played at the University of Cebu-METC campus, Celaros FC routed Erco FC, 5-1. Hanz Hernando got the first goal in the third minute for Celaros but Ian Cruz equalized three minutes later.
However, Erco broke apart in the middle of the first half after allowing three goals in a three minute span--EJ Tamoy in the 14th and 17th and James Singcol in the 16--to trail 4-1. Hernando completed his brace in the 38th for the easy win.
The University of San Carlos-Alumni also scored a win in the division, 2-1, against Primary Structure. Brian Oriel scored the first goal in the 25th for USC before Hayato Ayabe doubled it five minutes later. Aljohn Armamento got the lone goal for Primary in the 37th.
In the BPO Ladies division, Accenture scored late to beat Primary. 2-1. Irish Escoto got the first goal in the 27th before Nicole Sesmundo equalized for Primary in the 36th. However, Christine Catarinen got the match winner for Accenture in the 39th. In the Men’s BPO division, Accenture defeated wiPro, 4-1.
In the Men’s Open division, Lemar Baunsit scored twice in Makoto FC’s 6-0 win over DB Magone. Baunsit struck in the 30th and 85th minutes while Charles Bayot (40th), Mitsu Tsunakiri (24), Mark Nicolas (80) and Jude Javelona (92) had one each.
In the other game, DB Alumni survived a late charge to beat CK FC, 3-2. Jake Cabalan scored in the second and 25th minutes before Vince Kapili made it 3-0 in the 30th. CK FC had a late rally of sorts with Zun Jong Park scoring in the 76th and Avon Lim making it 3-2 in the 78th. However, they couldn’t find the third goal. (ML)
