IF A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, a successful event organizer says going the extra mile will take you far.

Former disc jockey and event host Lizza Taton-Bentinganan discovered her interest in the physical setups and the technicalities during one wedding event she hosted.

“Ang nangyari was when I was hosting around 2016, hindi ko na namalayan ba na syempre if you are an event host, you want to make sure na maganda yung decoration ng hino-host mo, okay yung sound system, tapos okay yung venue, everything that you have to consider in a wedding,” she shared.

Because of that, she decided to meet up with her clients in advance to make sure everything they needed for their event is prepared even if she was booked as a host.

Her extra effort went on for quite a while until people made her realize how much her efforts actually cost.

“It has become a routine already ba na every event, I make sure that everything is all good. So I hired and recommend the same suppliers, tapos sabi nila sa akin, ‘Liz, whatever it is that you are doing right now, you are only getting paid for being an event host. I suggest, you register your business as an organizer because everything that you are doing right now is a job of an events organizer,’” she said.

“Little did I know yun na pala yung ginagawa ko kasi I always aim lang na everything is all good lang ba,” she shared.

Her event organizing business, Events by Liz, has invited more clients since February 2017 when her first client who booked her for a hosting gig hired her again to be their wedding organizer.

Currently, she and her team organize a minimum of six events in a month.

“Ang pinakamingaw namo is at least six events in a month. Nagadepende siya sa year, for example this year, it’s nine in 2019 so ang malakas na date ngayon is September. Last September, we had 16 events,” she said.

The two-year-old Events by Liz had received 12 awards which are the Netizen's Best Choice Award of the Net Choice Awards as Events Planning Services Provider 2019, Top Event Planner 2019 given by Waterfront Insular Hotel, Best Premier Event Planning Services Provider and Best Quality Wedding and Events Service Provider given by Global Awards for Business and Marketing Excellence 2019, Premier Professional Event Planning Services Provider Award and Leadership Achievement in Event Planning Award by The Elite Business and Leadership Awards 2019, Most Outstanding Event Planning Services Provider by the Golden Dragon Awards of Excellence 2019, World-Class Event Planning Services by World Class Philippines Awards 2019, Top Choice Quality Events & Wedding Planning Specialist by Philippine Top Choice Awards for Excellence and Outstanding Achievers 2019, Top 6 Event Booker by the Apo View Hotel, Best Quality Event Planning Services Provider by the 15th Q Asia's National Product Quality Excellence Awards 2018, and the Best Leading Event Planning Services Provider by the Golden Globe Annual Awards for Business Excellence 2018.

“I never really expected that because normally kasi kapag two years ka pa sa event industry like me, malayo pa actually ang aabutin mo to go far but I actually learned the secret of staying in this field: It is never about the money. It is all about the quality of the output. In every client that I have, I make sure to produce great results, quality outputs kesa sa quantity,” she said adding that it led to more client referrals.

She said she also ensures her clients know where their money goes.

“I’m very transparent with my clients, I want the clients to see where their money goes. I want them to know their expenses in advance and suggest saan sila makakatipid kasi this is their wedding day and they also have to consider other financial aspects after the wedding. Quality output with an affordable amount,” she said.

She also owed her success to her hard-working team of 12 event coordinators and loyal suppliers who helps her make things easy and convenient for their clients.

“Coordinators before are not so popular because then, clients think that it is expensive. You have to pay for the organizer pa and because they think they can do it on their own. But I am telling my clients na it’s the other way around. It's easier and makakatipid sila,” she said.

“I want the people to know na all they have to do is just pay na lang, choose, and show up na lang at the wedding,” Bentinganan added.

Even if her business has flourished, she never forgets to go the extra mile of providing the best services she could provide for her clients.
