AS PART of its green initiative and reforestation project, Vivant Corp.—in partnership with real estate firm JEG Development Corp.—had its annual tree planting activity at a Central Cebu Protected Landscape (CCPL) site located at Sitio Bandila, Barangay Bonbon.

At an area suited for restoration, this year’s theme was “Solutions for a Changing World.” This also happens to be Kierra Amber Bondoc’s second time to join her mother Peachie of Vivant Corp., for the annual tree planting.

“My daughter insisted on joining again this year because she wanted to plant trees that would help prevent flooding in the lowlands,” Peachie shared.

Playing a key role in the fight against climate change, a total of 6,000 seedlings for native and fruit-bearing trees were planted that very morning at the protected landscape. Vivant Corp. executive vice president Arlo Sarmiento said, “Our annual tree planting is one of the ways we can give back to the environment while ensuring the sustainability of our business, in which Vivant Corp. needs to fulfill to ensure our future and that of our children.”

A member of the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), Vivant Corp. has been doing this each year since the project’s inauguration in 2009. “We always consider tree planting as a way to make up for what the rest of humanity has done to our planet,” added Debbie Artiaga, Vivant Corp. senior manager for treasury.

For a greener future and improvement for our surroundings, the Vivant Corp. plant site will be maintained by partner communities in collaboration with PBSP. Following the tree planting event was a lunch buffet spread, plus awards for prize winners, at the Chateau de Busay.
