Cardinals stay unscathed, edges Cavaliers in BBEAL

UNIVERSITY of Baguio (UB) Cardinals stayed undefeated in four games after clobbering Philippine Military Academy Cavaliers, 79–52, in men’s basketball of the Baguio – Benguet Educational Athletic League (BBEAL) season 33.

The Cardinals raced to an 8–0 lead right at the start of the opening canto and never looked back allowing the Cavaliers to only six points at the end of the first 10 minutes of the ball game during Saturday’s game at the SLU gym.

Four Cardinal scored in double digit led by Efren dela Cruz and Bheniedick Lozano’s 15 markers each while John Patrick Bianan and Maenard Rae Razo chipped in 12 apiece.

After posting a 47–24 lead at half time, the Cardinals pummeled the hapless Cavaliers and enjoyed their biggest lead at the ball game, 69–37, going into the pay–off period.

The Cardinals out-rebounded the Cavaliers, 37–30, and was better at the three-point line converting three out of 14 compared to PMA’s 1 of 16 shooting from beyond the arc.

Joshua Jo Marcelo, Mark Markkus Torres, and Alfons John Tumanda all chipped in 10 points apiece.

In other men’s basketball games, Baguio College of Technology Atoms meanwhile turned back season host Cordillera Career Development College, 70–66. (Roderick Osis)
