Duterte to arrive in Bacolod on October 25

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte is expected to arrive in Bacolod City on Friday, October 25, to grace the 40th MassKara Festival.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Monday, October 21, that tentatively, Duterte will arrive in Bacolod Friday for the opening the electric MassKara.

"We are now preparing for the arrival of the President and we are now coordinating with the MassKara committee," he said.

He said Duterte has graced the MassKara Festival for three consecutive years since he was elected in 2016.

The mayor noted that Duterte has a perfect attendance in Bacolod, where he attended the opening of the MassKara Festival in 2016 then, the barangay category in 2017, and schools category in 2018.

"So he could come here anytime and we are preparing as if the President is coming. When I invited him in Davao if he can come for the city's MassKara Festival, without batting of an eyelash he said yes. He said, I'm going to show my support for you," Leonardia said.

Festival director Eli Francis Tajanlangit also said they are preparing a special program for the President when he comes.

"He's coming to open the electric MassKara, so it's going to be electric MassKara related event where the President will also be with us to deliver a speech, but as to the details on what we will do, still we cannot announce because these things have to be approved by the presidential management staff," he said.

He added that they will do an extra especial electric MassKara event.

Tajanlangit said the electric MassKara has a total of 14 performing floats and will be held at the Tourism Strip in Lacson Street.
