Moreno on 2022 elections: Uy-Uy tandem ‘unlikely’

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno said the tandem of 1st District Representative Rolando “Klarex” Uy and his son incumbent city Vice Mayor Rainier Joaquin “Kikang” Uy in 2022 elections is unlikely.

At this early, Moreno is going around the different villages telling residents that his choice for mayor in the next polls is the elder Uy.

Moreno is serving his last term as the city’s top official.

“Dili sad siguro si Kikang iyang vice, I don’t know, pero we’ll talk about it. Lisod siguro si Kikang iyang vice,” he said.

Moreno said he has yet to talk with Uy about this and is also still unsure about his choice for vice mayor.

The mayor said it is important to tell people this early about his candidate for 2022 mayoralty race, saying the continuity of his programs is what he has in mind now.

“I’m sure sa iya sad nga bahin he thinks it’s too early to talk about it pero syempre in occasions like this kinahanglan maistorya para naay continuity sa atong programa labina nga less than 1000 days nalang ang nabilin sa akong termino as mayor so continuity is what i have in mind,” he said in an interview.

Moreno said although Uy and he have different leadership style, they have one direction.

For his part, the younger Uy thanked the mayor for his trust but refused to comment further.

“It’s his prerogative, nagpasalamat lang gihapon ta sa iyang pagsalig nga mohuman gyud sa iyang nasugdan. Pero layo paman, serbisyo lang sa ta, at the proper time we will talk about that,” he said.

“Pero karon I am focused on my job,” the younger Uy added.
