CEBU’S grandest grassroots basketball tournament, the MVPSF Youth Basketball League-Cebu (MYBL-Cebu), will finally come off the wraps on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at the Magis Eagles Arena of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Canduman, Mandaue City.

The Cebu Youth Basketball League of Rico Navarro and the MVP Sports Foundation are spearheading this landmark collaboration, which would see a whopping 109 teams compete in the three different age groups-- the Under-12, Under-15 and Under-18.

Each age group would also have two divisions to cater to the varying skill levels of the participating teams. Teams are composed of schools, ballclubs and LGU-based squads.

The opening day would also see an exhibition game between a team composed of MYBL-Cebu officials and that of a team led by two of the most distinguished sportsmen in the Philippines today: Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas and Cebu City Councilor Dondon Hontiveros.

The MYBL-Cebu Team will have MVPSF executive director and former pro coach Ryan Gregorio, lawyer Oscar “Jang” Moreno Jr. and SBP’s operations director Butch Antonio as well as other MYBL coaches.

The MYBL-Cebu regular games would be played after the goodwill match. (JNP)
