Historic tri-chamber meet set October 24

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Private stakeholders, local government officials, and representatives from non-government organizations (NGOs) will converge for the first-ever Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PamCham), Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (MACCII) and Clark Investors and Locators Association (Cila) Tri-Chamber General Membership Meeting.

The event will start at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 24, at the LausGroup Event Center.

This, PamCham President Rene Romero said, came after the successful joint board meeting of the three groups recently held at Clark Freeport hosted by Bases and Conversion Development Authority Vince Dizon.

"It was during that first joint board meeting of PamCham, MACCII and Cila that we united to push for the development of Clark and New Clark City, Pampanga and Central Luzon as a whole. We saw the need for us to band together and boost economic growth and countryside development, especially there is so much boom going on in Clark and Central Luzon," he said.

Aside from the three groups, the Philippine Air Force and the Philippine National Police will witness the tri-chamber meet and call for support in the ongoing efforts to end local armed conflict in Central Luzon which Romero cited as beneficial to the business community.

A sisterhood agreement between the chambers and Quezon City will also be signed during the meet.

The highlight of the meeting will be an economic assessment of the growth potentials of the North and Central Luzon regions relative to the upcoming Southeast Asia (SEA) Games in New Clark City and the expansion of the Clark International Airport.

Dr. Cielito F. Habito, Ateneo professor and economist, will be the guest of honor and speaker during the event.

Habito is the former Socio-Economic Planning secretary and head of the National Economic and Development Authority. (JTD)
