965 drug personalities arrested in Western Visayas in 3rd quarter

A TOTAL of 965 drug personalities in Western Visayas were arrested from June to October this year.

This was revealed by Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas director, Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan as part of his accomplishments in the region since he took the post in June of this year.

Pamuspusan said from June 27 to October 21, 2019, PRO-Western Visayas has initiated 639 anti-drug operations in Western Visayas

He also noted four drug suspects who have been killed during police operations.

Pamuspusan said they have seized 3,889 grams of suspected shabu and 8,568 grams of marijuana with a combined value of P37.7 million.

For anti-gambling operations, the PRO-Western Visayas director said 339 operations were initiated with 952 arrests and the confiscation of P160,000 in gambling money.

Meanwhile, as part of regional police's campaign against loose firearms, Pamuspusan said they have conducted 166 operations with 211 arrests made and 320 confiscated firearms.

PRO-Western Visayas also noted 10,043 firearms were either surrendered or deposited.

The regional police also made progress with anti-insurgency operations, wherein PRO-6 has arrested five New People's Army (NPA) rebels. One NPA rebel was also noted to have been killed, while five have surrendered to PRO-Western Visayas personnel.

Pamuspusan has also revealed that he has signed the dismissal papers of one of the PRO-Western Visayas personnel for involvement with illegal drugs, adding that he will not hesitate to dismiss more if they found personnel engaging in illegal activities.
