Murcia top cop relieved due to lack of drug report

THERE is a deeper reason for the relief of the Chief of Police of the Murcia Police Station, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas director.

Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan explained the relief of Murcia town police chief, Police Major Roberto Indiape has something to do with the failure in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Pamuspusan said Indiape has failed to discuss to him the situation of the municipality with regard to illegal drugs despite that he had issued a warning two days prior to all police chiefs in the region to be able to know and discuss the situation of illegal drugs in their area.

The PRO-Western Visayas director also affirmed he did paid a surprise visit to the Murcia Municipal Police Station, wherein he found the station dirty with laundry and pillows strewn all over the station's finance office.

"Police chiefs should prioritize maintaining their backyard first," Pamuspusan said.

"If they can't discipline their own members, and they do not know what are their targets then what is your right to become chief of police in the area?" he further questioned.

Pamuspusan said maintaining cleanliness inside the station is a must with all documents properly filed and all logistical services organized.

He further pointed out in his own opinion maintaining a station is easy and if a police chief is unable to maintain it, then he thinks he is not a good police chief.

Pamuspusan added Indiape's relief should serve as a warning to other police chiefs not only in Negros Occidental, but in the whole region.
