Green, tourist guards of Iloilo City trained

ILOILO City Government’s newly-hired green and tourist guards, as well as police auxiliaries have been trained on professionalization to properly carry out their functions, duties and responsibilities.

A total of 30 each for green and tourist guards to be assigned in Esplanades, parks and plazas, and 103 police auxiliaries, attended orientation and work ethics seminar.

Mayor Jerry Treñas initiated the hiring of personnel tasked to maintain public safety for both residents and visitors and enforce environmental regulations.

They also underwent basic self-defense training by the Iloilo City Police Office.

Treñas said the personnel should also learn safety and basic emergency response since they are frontliners in the field during urgent situations.

Executive Assistant Mark Ryan Acap and City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head Donna Magno met with Philippine Red Cross Iloilo Chapter Administrator Gilbert Valderrama to discuss the needs for first aid training.

“The City Government made sure that the newly-hired field employees are capable of being first responders in any untoward incidents that may happen in their area of responsibility,” Acap said.

They also underwent Paralegal Seminar Workshop for Anti-littering Officers conducted by City Environment and Natural Resources Office for them to be deputized as sanitation officers to catch litterbugs. (PR)
