FOLLOWING his recent conquest in ONE Championship, the Baguio City Council is commending Team Lakay fighter Lito Adiwang.

Adiwang, a ONE Warrior Series alum, put together an impressive show in his ONE Championship main roster debut, scoring a first round technical knockout victory over former Pancrase champion Senzo Ikeda of Japan.

Known for his striking, Adiwang showed off a different facet of his game as he scored an early takedown and immediately executed a scarf-hold armlock. The bout was stopped just moments later after Ikeda suffered an injury to his arm, giving the stoppage win to Adiwang.

It was a huge moment for the 26-year-old Filipino, who came to the Pancrase Flyweight World Champion’s hometown, and left with the ninth stoppage victory of his career to put the rest of the division on notice.

Adiwang was helped in his preparation by his teammate, Danny “The King” Kingad, who previously met Ikeda at ONE: A NEW ERA back in March as part of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix quarterfinals.

His experience against the representative of The Paraestra Matsudo gave “Thunder Kid” valuable insight into how to get the upper hand at the Ryogoku Kokugikan.

Councilor Art Allad-iw in his commendation, congratulated Adiwang for his feat in the prestigious mixed martial arts competition.

“Adiwang has once again brought pride and honor not only to his family but also to the entire people of Baguio City and has shown once again the indomitable spirit of the Cordilleran’s to the whole world. His astounding feat is worthy of commendation,” Allad-iw said in his commendation.
