MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano wants to send a lawyer to represent his ally, former Cagayan de Oro City vice mayor Caesar Ian Acenas, who was arrested in Cebu for alleged involvement in an investment scam.

In a statement, Emano appealed to the public not to judge the former city official whom he said has gone through so much.

(He has gone through so much, that's why I'm asking PIO Carlo Guzman Dugaduga to help Vice Mayor Ian Acenas and send a lawyer to the CIDG-Central Visayas, because Carlos Dugaduga is from Cebu and I believe he knows a lawyer who can help Acenas.)

The governor said the public should wait for Acenas's side of the story.

Emano said he knew Acenas as a good and true friend, a responsible party mate in Padayon Pilipino, and a genuine public servant.

(I also trust Acenas just as my father, Dongkoy Emano, trusted and chose him to become the vice mayor of Cagayan de Oro City. He has never been linked to any controversies, anomalies and corruption.)

Acenas is still detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas pending the filing of estafa cases against him.
