HUNDREDS of Fernandino and Kapampangan children on Friday, October 25, were vaccinated against polio during the “end polio campaign and vaccination” hosted by the City Government of San Fernando at Heroes Hall.

The mass vaccination was spearheaded by the Rotary International Cluster 4A District 3790, Rotary Club of San Fernando RI District 3790 and other Rotary Clubs in Pampanga in line with the observance of World Polio Day on October 24.

The Rotary Club has, since its inception, led the way in the eradication of polio worldwide.

In its campaign in Pampanga, City Health Office’s Dr. Renely Tungol delivered a lecture for parents on the symptoms and causes of polio and ways to fight the disease which re-emerged in the Philippines recently.

Rotary International Cluster 4A District 3790 Assistant Governor Alex Patio shared that the Rotary continues to carry on the global campaign against polio, with all Rotary clubs mandated to conduct the free vaccination in their respective areas.

Mayor Edwin Santiago for his part, thanked the Rotary Club for supporting the government’s efforts to protect children against polio. (JTD)
