Velez: Back pain and other back breaking news

I WONDER which news is making Senator Bong Go prouder: his son placing third in the accountancy board exams, or that he is now the presidential “doctor” by declaring the president has back spasms.

We still have to confirm what caused the president’s back spasms. Like which Barretto sister gave him the most pain in the back.

Speaking of the Barrettos, a Facebook app is helping people to mark themselves safe from this earth-shaking sibling catfight. That’s very helpful, because Davao and North Cotabato folks have been suffering from 400 quakes and aftershocks this past week. Manila is suffering from broken MRTs. The Barrettos are this government’s weapon of mass distraction.

Do note that one of the issues of this sibling rivalry involves affairs with Filipino-Chinese businessmen. Chinoys, Chinese, they are expanding and covering every territory.

Actually, a political netizen Ding Velasco believes the president’s back pain is just a made up story. His version says the president was embarrassed of not being included in the official list of foreign leaders to attend the Japanese emperor’s ceremony that he made up this excuse. Proof of it is that he went straight to the late Senator Nene Pimentel’s wake, and then felt better after meeting a Chinese official.

Whether this is true or not, this is the effect of having so much fake news on social media. The only thing we believe is true is that Enrile is still alive as of today.

Actually, the real pain that is happening is our farmers are losing income because of rice liberalization. Economists note that about 2.5 million farmers are losing P53 billion.

And the government’s solution? Cash gifts worth P5,000 for each farmer. A senator complained why agriculturists are spending so much for research. Maybe we should complain do the senators know how to count aside from the amount of kickbacks, housing and votes they earn?

Maybe we should all learn counting from Retired Justice Antonio Carpio. He has zero backlog on his cases. He gets the job done. This government ain’t. Proof is, half of the 35 Build-Build-Build projects just don’t have the money to finance it. Government’s bridge of dreams are sinking from their imagination.

It’s painful that October is considered Peasant Month but the government’s rice liberalization and tarrification is killing our farmers. Cause oriented groups and citizens’ groups are now supporting the local farmers by holding “bagsakan”, farmers’ fair to directly buy their produce.

It’s painful also that the DepEd declared October as Indigenous Peoples’ Month but shut down 54 lumad schools. DepEd wants to battle illiteracy and ignorance but they can’t spell Lumad rights.
