BERKELEY School and University of Baguio Science High school seek to defend the home turf when they square off against other teams for the regional finals of the Milo Best Twin Tournament which opens today at Easter College.

Led by most valuable player Enzo Dionisio, the eight time SBP Baguio champion will have their hands full against Lucena champion International School for Better Beginnings, Pampanga titlist Holy Family Academy and Pangasinan representative Urdaneta I Central School.

Berkeley made it to the regional finals after disposing first runner up Lucban Elementary School in the finals of the Baguio leg tournament while Our Lady of Mount Carmel Montessori and Saint Louis University Laboratory Elementary School finished third and fourth respectively.

In the Passerelle division, MVP Kendric Gaerlan led UB Science High to its first title in the tournament after dispatching long time champion Saint Louis University Laboratory High School with Baguio City National High School and Berkeley School completing the top four of the tournament.

UB guns for the regional crown as it competes against Pampanga titlist Don Bosco Institute of Tarlac, Pangasinan champion Urdaneta National High School and Lucena winner International School for Better Beginnings.

For more than 30 years, the SBP/Passerelle Twin Tournament provides an avenue for young cagers to apply what they learned from basketball trainings and showcase their skills in the court.

The tournament features unique rules wherein a team must field a new set of five players for each for the first three periods and the coach may then play any combination he wishes for the final canto, thus guaranteeing each player a minimum of 10 minutes of court time.

SBP is for players aged nine to 11 while passerelle is for 12 to 14 year old and was conceived in order to act as a bridge between the SBP and the Juniors Division for players 18 and under.

The tournament is also a perfect opportunity for Milo Best Center students to apply what they have learned during the summer sports clinic founded by Coach Nic Jorge.
